The Institute for Coping with Destruction investigates methods for coming to terms with the presence of the climate emergency. Instead of easing fears with techno utopias and innovations, the institution turns to the Baltic sea for answers, inspiration and comfort. We (Heini Aho, Leena Kela and Eero Yli-Vakkuri) at The Institute for Coping with Destruction believe that sustainable paths will emerge by embracing the resourcefulness of nature and the folk who habit the islets and islands of the Baltic Sea. For us the first step in this commitment is to do less and to acknowledge the ongoing destruction.
